Punta Tegge — La Maddalena
Located on the western coast of the island of La Maddalena, the beach is set in a beautiful bay protected by a majestic granite cliff and topped by a promontory where Fort Santa Teresa stands. Tegge is divided into beaches and rocks: the two beaches are made of golden sand with fairly large but not uncomfortable grains, and are framed by spectacular wind-worked granite. But the real peculiarity of the place is the rocky shore on the western side, towards the islands, where the expanse of flat granite rocks slipping gently into the water creates a unique, almost lunar landscape. This is the ideal place to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the archipelago.
How to get there
To reach the beach you must follow the panoramic road that loops around the island, starting from the centre, passing in front of Cala Gavetta (the harbour) and, continuing for about 5-6 km, reaching the Tegge locality, where you will find a convenient car park with a bus stop. You can use the following means:
Private car or scooter (free parking available);
Bicycle: an easy route;
Local summer bus service with stops nearby (check the timetable here, Case Ornano line, summer period).
Facilities and services
One of the aspects that makes Tegge particularly family-friendly is the presence of a Bar/Restaurant called “Zi’ Antò”. The venue generally operates from June to September, with hours from 8:00 until late at night in the peak-season months. This lets you organise a full day at the beach without needing to return to town for lunch, something particularly appreciated by those travelling with small children. Moreover, right here you can enjoy an excellent aperitif with relaxing music and a sunset view.
Tegge beach is equipped with a system called Seatrack that allows people with motor disabilities to bathe in complete safety.
Park protection and regulations
Remember that the National Park regulates the use of the territory; here you will find all the necessary information!
Conclusion
Visiting Punta Tegge means immersing yourself in a picture painted by nature, where the pink of the granite blends with the blue of the sea and the green of the Mediterranean scrub. It is the ideal destination for those seeking not just a refreshing swim, but a complete experience: snorkelling among shoals of fish, relaxing on a smooth rocky shore and, finally, the sunset aperitif which, if you are lucky, will paint the sky and rocks in a thousand different shades.
